Virginia Beach firefighters responded to the 400 block of Cummings Lane in the Birchwood area Tuesday December 21st around 2:30.   As firefighters arrived they were blocked by a live electrical line that had fallen from the burning house and blocked their access.  These caused the firefighters to park at a distance and stretch their fire houses across a neighbor’s yard.  As more fire apparatus and firefighters arrived, they entered the home and made an aggressive interior search. The occupants, who were home at the time of the fire, escaped without injury. The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
