                                                                                              My Fallen Comrades

I would like to take a few moments to thank all of my brothers and sisters who answer the last bell on September 11. I truly believe that is the highs level of bravery that could ever be attained. When all of America was running from the danger, they ran right into the gates of hell, knowing what the hostilities awaited but still did it anyway. I am a 32 year old firefighter/EMT and hope that when my time comes I hope that I can show the courage and bravery that my "Hero's" showed on that tragic day. I know whether I and standing in the middle of a busy 4 lane highway, extricating a trapped victim from the mangled metal of a severe car wreck, crawling through a heavy smoked hallway searching for a small child's bedroom that was to scared to come out of the house when it woke up to heavy, choking smoke and severe heat, or attempting to revive a husband from cardiac arrest, knowing the whole time it is hopeless but wanting the family to know that I have done my best, I will know that all of my fallen brothers and sisters will be right there by my side to watch over and protect me. I can just hope that I can perform my skills to a level to make them proud of what I do. May God bless and be with you.

Not a day goes by that I don't remember those brothers lost on 9/11, not a day goes by that I don't see some reminder. Did I know any of them personally? NO, but my heart still goes out to all their families, because one day, it could be my family that's grieving.

I would like to take a few moments to thank all of my brothers and sisters who answered the last bell on September 11, 2001 . I truly believe that is the highest level of bravery that could ever be attained. When all of America was running from the danger, they ran straight into the gates of hell, knowing what fate may await them, they never stopped. I am a 32 year old Firefighter/E.M.T. and hope that when my time comes to answer my last bell, I hope that I can do it with the courage and bravery that my “Hero’s” showed on that tragic day. I know, whether I am standing in the middle of a  busy 4 lane highway at rush hour extricating a trapped victim from the mangled metal of a severe car wreck, crawling down a smoke filled hallway searching for a bedroom that contains a small child terrified from all of the smoke and fire, or attempting to revive an elderly gentleman from cardiac arrest knowing all along that no matter what I do the outcome will still be bad, I do all I can so that the family will know that I did my best to save their loved one. Through all of this I know that all of my fallen brothers and sisters will be right by my side to guide and to protect me. I just hope that I can perform my duties to a level that will make them proud of what I have done. May God bless you and be with you.

I was not firefighter at the time of 9/11. But with the sacrafice of those who died in 9/11 gave me the honor to be a fireman. I am constantly thinking of those who died to make lives of others safe. May there be many more people in our world....such as them. GOD BLESS all who fight fires to make others safe.
