Webmaster's note:

     On 7/6/02 while visiting a local cemetery I passed a headstone that really caught my eye. As I was backing up to see whose grave it was it became very clear that this was the grave of a brave HERO of the FDNY. As the car came to a stop I looked at the name on the stone and read that this was the final resting place for FDNY Hero Dennis Mulligan. I will never forget the first few words on his headstone. 

"Fireman turned Soldier"

     No truer words could be etched in stone. As everyone else was running down these men ran up into the unknown. If you know where a HERO is buried stop by say a prayer or bring an extra flower or two. Let them know they will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. You can be rest assured on my next trip to the cemetery I will have some flowers for Mr. Mulligan.
