"Remember The Brothers"

My name is Jake Lathrop, I'm now a 24 year old Resident Firefighter/EMT in Pierce County, Washington State. A co-worker and I came up with the design of this tattoo to help deal with the pain, our young souls felt that tragic day. I believe that our job is to protect our community, even if that means to give our life. This does not make us heroes. Instead the heroes are the ones who wait for us at home, unaware of weather or not we will return after our shift. My tattoo is now a daily reminder of what we as firefighters may willingly face every time we bunk up. Years later, I will be proud to explain to my grandchildren what the only tattoo on my body means to me.
