High Water Rescue Unit from Freeport Long Island N.Y.

 

In 1998,The Freeport Fire Department became the 1st Fire Department
on Long Island to form there High Water Rescue Unit.They use a converted 6 x 6 military jeep vehicle into a 6 x 6 water rescue unit.This rig is capable of driving in severe flooded road conditions that no ordinary
fire apparatus or Emeregency Rescue vehicle can drive thru.They can relieve flooded basements in homeowners house,carowners who cars that is stuck on flooded roads that carowners cant walk thru and rescue other people who are trapped in dire flood emergencies.Presently!!Freeport now has 2 High Water 6 x 6 Water Rescue Units.
