Submitted by Liberty Fire Co. a Fire Department in Lancaster County, PA. They still own their first motorized engine which is a 1918 American La France Type 40 Combination Chemical and Hose. It was purchased  new on April 23, 1918 at a cost of $8,000.00 and they have owned it since new.  It was totally refurbished in 1992.
